HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Amid the active search for a Maui woman who went missing in Los Angeles, her father was found dead Sunday in Los Angeles, authorities said.
Ryan Kobayashi had been in California searching for his daughter, 30-year-old Hannah Kobayashi, after she missed her connecting flight to New York from Los Angeles.
Hannah was supposed to meet with family on Nov. 8., according to family members.
The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed that Ryan Kobayashi died after he jumped off from a parking structure near LAX sometime around 4 a.m. Sunday.

On Nov. 21, the Kobayashi family made an emotional plea Thursday near the Los Angeles Metro stop where Hannah was last seen more than 10 days ago.
One friend said she received strange text messages from Hannah’s phone.
Hannah’s phone tracker went dark on Nov. 11, the same day she was seen with an unknown person, then got off the subway that night at the Pico station, near the Crypto.com Arena.
Loved ones held a rally there, detailing the timeline of her disappearance and the clues suggesting the Haiku resident may be in trouble. They’ve been passing out fliers and posting them around areas where she was last seen in LA.
The Kobayashi family is pleading the public and police to continue searching for Hannah.
